Bookings using the New Distribution Capability protocol resumed gradual growth during the second half of 2024 after the reversal in American Airlines’ distribution strategy reduced pressure on travel management companies to enable and support such bookings.

NDC transactions dropped off after growing in the first half of 2024, according to ARC.

Accelya chief customer success officer Tye Radcliffe told The Company Dime on Jan. 31 that after the “chilling effect” of AA’s u-turn, NDC is “alive and well,” with “significant and substantial” growth in the corporate travel space.

“If you want an airline’s best content, you need to get it through NDC because that’s where the airline is able to put their best foot forward,” Radcliffe said. “That’s where they’re able to be the most like their own website. Things like continuous pricing drive people to NDC.”

Accelya assists NDC programs at American, Delta, United and many other airlines, and claims to handle half of global NDC transactions.
