Considering all the grief SAP Concur gets about its travel booking interface, it’s interesting how well its expense software rates. Concur’s mobile apps get pretty solid numbers on the app stores. Though you must take them with a grain of salt, enterprise software review sites also generally praise Concur with a four out of five or better.

Now, the company is looking to further improve on the expense management user experience. Concur based its newest interface on “user research and data analytics” including 680 one-on-one conversations, 58 usability studies, more than 3,000 survey responses and 1.3 billion “monthly user actions,” according to client communications.

After initially planning a mandatory cutover to the new interface next month for all clients, Concur is now shooting for next year.

“We received valuable and positive customer feedback about the next-generation expense user interface during our preview period,” according to a press official. “In order to ensure an exceptional, intuitive user experience, and successful customer-centric transition, we have revised the migration timing. We recommend clients plan and complete their transition at a pace that aligns with their preferred roll-out approach in 2019; however, clients won’t be required to transition until 2020.”

Customer documentation suggests the preview period as a time when admins and power users can familiarize themselves with the new interface and workflow. They’re advised to update internal training materials, and Concur provides them with templates and FAQs documents.

Concur’s mobile apps have a separate development cycle.
