Industry icon and United Airlines SVP for worldwide sales Dave Hilfman will retire from the carrier at year-end.
Hilfman was senior vice president of worldwide sales for Continental Airlines from 2004 to 2010. He started his career in 1981 as a campus sales representative for Eastern Airlines at the University of South Florida.
Listen to a recording of our live teleconference interview with Hilfman after his announcement.
He joined Continental in 1986 and ultimately played a big part in the carrier’s resurrection under Gordon Bethune.
He informed his sales team this week about his departure, citing personal reasons.
Guessing that most people who subscribed to The Company Dime have encountered Dave in one way or another and I would think that the consensus is the same, which is that he is a gifted personality and has made an individual impact that resonates with those he has touched. Importantly, he has been a terrific ambassador for United Airlines, and a person who has earned genuine respect.
We love you Dave! Good for you!!!
