Travel tech firm Serko hired Tony D’Astolfo as SVP North America. The industry veteran is tasked with expanding the company’s operations in the region, particularly the Zeno self-booking tool.

Headquartered in New Zealand and active throughout Australasia, Serko intends to run Zeno beta tests this spring in North America. In October 2017, it hired former American Express and nuTravel executive Rich Miller to get the ball rolling.

Miller will report to D’Astolfo. The pair collaborated in the early days of corporate online self-booking when D’Astolfo was at Sabre’s GetThere and Miller ran American Express Global Business Travel’s online fulfillment unit.

“The North American market is looking for alternatives to the status quo,” according to D’Astolfo’s prepared statement.

D’Astolfo most recently worked for Deem as chief commercial officer. In his 30 years in the travel industry, he also worked for United Airlines, GroundLink and research firm Phocuswright.

D’Astolfo is scheduled to appear on The Company Dime’s April 12 teleconference.
