A TravelPerk executive said the company had a direct connection with Hilton, but the hospitality firm said there was no agreement on that.
Different from direct booking via, say, an airline's or hotel's website, a direct connection is a pipe between a supplier and a travel agency or corporate account. It may be facilitated by a third-party tech firm but likely leaves out such intermediaries as global distribution systems and, for hotels, Cendyn's Pegasus "switch" technology.
Those intermediaries and others, including many travel management companies, have obvious business reasons . . .
