TripActions in the coming weeks will roll out a new booking interface that meets Delta’s display requirements. This will end a dispute between the two parties that prevented TripActions customers from booking Delta without agent assistance.

TripActions worked with Delta, American Airlines and United Airlines on the new interface. It is based on standards developed by ATPCO. As such, TripActions’ web and mobile app users soon will see descriptions and photos of airline product details like branded fares, seat pitch and inflight amenities. They’ll also see corporate policy parameters and on-time performance for specific flights.

The ATPCO initiative uses a common star rating system. A rating of one star could apply to a basic economy airfare, indicating what’s not included (checked bags and itinerary changes, for example). Five stars might apply to a first-class product.

“Airlines have requested that ATPCO create an industry standard of data that describes ‘like-type’ airline products and services,” according to ATPCO information. “This standard will enable pricing and aggregator systems to better find, sort and present airline products, and it will enrich the consumer experience.”

In Tuesday’s announcement about the new interface, TripActions made no mention of Southwest Airlines. The carrier has no agreement with TripActions.
