As a search professional who has executed C-level searches, I question the stated $300k search fee. They all do not carry that price tag. The board is voluntary and that is respected; however, it is surprising that there was not a succession plan in place (this is not a new association or a financially challenged one) or a better handle on the PR for the announcement.
