GDS operators continue to beef up hotel content and make it easier for travel agents to get at. Among recent moves, Travelport began negotiating its own hotel rates and offered a new agent point-of-sale tool. Sabre is planning a new multi-source hotel content solution for 2018.
The goal for these distributors and Amadeus is to bring in as much lodging content possible via a single pipeline, normalize it and increase booking volumes. Doing so widens traveler choice, increases attachment rates and drives more revenue for agencies through client transaction fees and hotel commission payments.
